Pitch

On the 17th of October the group and I pitched our trailer ideas to Mrs. McLuckie in order to gain feedback on whether it would be possible to pull off our trailer as we are working on an extremely low budget and with minimal experience at making a movie trailer. After we hd finished the pitch, Mrs. McLuckie stated that she liked the idea behind the plot and could tell that we had put a lot of time into the idea but informed us that it would be difficult to pull of as we have to make the trailer believable for the audience and not make it look like we are just a few teenagers messing around with a camera. Mrs. McLuckie said that it would not be believable to have teenagers dressed up as the agents that were to be hunting down the main character of the trailer as she made us aware that the agent in the Matrix movies were mid 30's men who gave off authority and showed experience which would have been hard to convey with a 17 year old acting as an adult which would make the trailer look extremely unprofessional.

Our teacher also advised us to scrap the lab scene as it would be too unrealistic to film in the school lab as labs are high tech, expensive, futuristic buildings which would have been difficult to portray in the schools science lab. Another idea that our teacher told us to make tweaks about was the idea of the loud explosion causing people to fall unconcious as we were planning to film this in a public place and it would be difficult to get the general public to willingly drop to the floor and pretend to be unconscious, further damaging the realism of the trailer and impacting the quality of the final product. The lab scene can easily be scrapped, but some other changes that could improve our trailer include: rather than have anyone fall unconcious we could just have a blinding light as we could film this in London as if we are tourists and then add the bright light effect that will blind the camera, and this footage could shrink into a news report. We could also have a cult hunting the people with supernatural abilities. With this idea our villians could wear masks and this wouldn't matter that the actors were teenagers just as long as they were of a decent height.

Mrs. McLuckie highlighted to us that we had chosen our genre as an action/sci-fi but our film would not fit into that genre at all as sci-fi films are packed start to end with visual effects and action movies are famous for their iconography of large explosions, fight scenes and car chases; none of which our trailer would feature. Our teacher also suggested that we mould our idea into a horror movie trailer but we decided that this would not suit the effects we had decided to include in our trailer, but we took on board Mrs. McLuckie's comments and decided that our film trailer idea would be better suited to that of a supernatural thriller. Mrs. McLuckie also noticed that the effects were the main reason that we wanted to create trailer like this. This meant that she could tell that we had been on the video co-pilot website and chose the effects that we had wanted and formed a plot around it. Mrs McLuckie informed us to formulate a plot that would be simple to film whilst looking professional and then include the after effects at the end.
